United
Bridgton Increases Paramedic Coverage
United
Ambulance Service's Bridgton Division is pleased to
announce that they have increased their response level
to full-time Paramedic coverage. United Bridgton currently
provides primary emergency medical services ( EMS
) for the towns of Bridgton , Denmark and Sweden .
United also provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) backup
assistance for ambulance services in the Bridgton
area.
The
operation began in July of 2001, after Kimball's Ambulance
Service announced that they were going out of business.
Initially, United was licensed at the Basic-EMT level
and was permitted to the Paramedic level. During this
time period each ambulance was equipped with Paramedic
equipment, however, a Paramedic was not always available
to respond on each emergency call.
Last
month, United Bridgton became permanently licensed
at the Paramedic level. This new licensure requires
that a Paramedic is on board the ambulance for every
emergency call that the agency responds to. United
Bridgton currently has 2 Paramedic ambulances on duty
24 hours each day.
United
is enthusiastic about the recent licensure change
and they remain committed to providing quality patient
care. United is eager to be a participant in the future
development of EMS in the Western Maine area.
