United Bridgton to Hold Community Dinner
United Ambulance Service will be holding a spaghetti dinner in efforts to raise donation money for emergency light bulbs for elderly and handicapped individuals living in the Bridgton Area.
The “Home Beacon” is a light bulb that fits into most outside light fixtures and is used in many parts of the country to assist people in signaling rescuers during an emergency at their home. The individual just flicks their light switch three times and the bulb begins flashing until it is turned off.
“We are excited about this new program as it will assist us in finding homes and camps located in heavily wooded areas. The Bridgton area is quite rural and it is often difficult to find homes in the event of an emergency at night” stated Paul Fillebrown, United’s Bridgton Division Supervisor.
United is being assisted with this initiative by our community partners the Bridgton Fire and Bridgton Police Departments. The Community Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, August 15th from 4:30 to 7:00pm at the Bridgton Central Fire Station. Tickets cost $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children (12 and under).
So far United has donated $1,000 towards this new initiative and will be using donations received from the dinner to assist in funding additional light bulbs to better serve the need in the Bridgton area.
