Maine
Silver Collar Employers for 2006
Augusta-
United Ambulance Service of Lewiston
has been named one of Maine's Silver Collar Employers
for 2006.
Maine's
top ten employers for older workers were honored on
September 21 as Maine's Silver Collar Employers for
2006 at the 2006 Blaine House Conference on Aging.
Laura Fortman, Commissioner, Maine Department of Labor,
and Sabra Burdick, Deputy Commissioner, Maine Department
of Health and Human Services presented the awards.
United
Ambulance Service, Wheelchair Transportation Division
is one of Maine's largest and most respected providers
of medical transportation services, serving Androscoggin
County since 1981. Jointly owned by Central Maine
Medical Center and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center,
United Ambulance has a commitment to providing prompt,
professional care.
The
Wheelchair Transportation Division offers flexible
scheduling and a relaxed environment, two reasons
of many for their highly successful peer referral
process that works especially well among their older
employees. Among the greatest benefits that United
Ambulance Service finds in hiring older workers are
their consistent dedication and the great work ethic
they demonstrate.
“Successful
businesses recognize that experienced, motivated employees
are a key to their success,” said Fortman. “Silver
Collar Employers recognize the qualities older workers
bring to their jobs, and make a strong commitment
to their communities in their hiring practices. We
are pleased to recognize United Ambulance Service
as one of Maine's Silver Collar Employers for 2006.”
