United
Donates Ambulance to Litchfield First Responders
On
Thursday, August 31st , United Ambulance Service donated
a 1994 Horton Type III ambulance to Litchfield
First Responders . Tina Gowell, Chief of the
volunteer service is grateful for this donation as
the new vehicle replaces a 1989 Ford “Rescue Vehicle”
that is developing various mechanical problems.
Though
there are obvious benefits to having a newer vehicle
to respond in, the Litchfield First Responders
are especially pleased as the donated vehicle
is equipped with lights, cabinetry, stretcher, and
onboard oxygen and suction systems, some of which
are not available in their current vehicle.
Litchfield
First Responders are the primary first responder agency
for the Town of Litchfield . Since January
1st of this year they have responded to over 215 calls
for service. Ambulance transport services are primarily
completed by the Gardiner Fire Department .
When Gardiner is not available or when the
location is closer to United's coverage area, United
provides transport services.
