United Wheelchair Division Improves Service in the Bridgton Area
United Ambulance Service is pleased to announce that they have expanded wheelchair transportation services for enhanced coverage for Bridgton and the surrounding communities. Prior to this expansion, United was covering the majority of wheelchair transports through their Lewiston Office.
“We are very excited to offer local wheelchair transportation services”, replied Paul Fillebrown, United’s Bridgton Division Supervisor. “This local option will assist us in providing enhanced wheelchair transportation for community members living in the Bridgton Area.”
Last week United’s Bridgton Division received one wheelchair van and many of the Bridgton employees participated in a mandatory training session necessary to operate it. United mandates standardized training to ensure the highest levels of safety for each and every patient transport.
“Safety and risk prevention is something we continually strive to achieve. It is something that started in 1996 when we began providing wheelchair transportation”, replied Paul Doyon, United’s Fleet Manager.
Currently, United owns and operates 28 wheelchair vans and four minivans which are used to provide over 35,000 wheelchair transports annually. With a standard convention wheelchair van, United is capable of transporting two wheelchair clients and four ambulatory clients at one time.
To date United’s Bridgton Division has provided nine wheelchair transports over the past five days of service. As transport volume increases, United will implement growth and development plans to accommodate increased wheelchair transportation demands for the Bridgton Area.
