Our Communications Center is based in our Central Station. The current Center was completed
in November ’02 and has 3 workstations where our dispatchers handle
hundreds of calls daily.
The Center was upgraded to meet the growing
increase in call volume as well as to house our new RightCAD Dispatching
System. The Computer Aided Dispatching System allows our Dispatchers to
efficiently accomplish a multitude of tasks. Each and every call (transfer,
emergency or fire) is entered, categorized, and prioritized in the system.
The system has been expanded to support Automated Vehicle Locators which
are similar to Global Positioning Systems.
All of our Dispatchers are trained and certified
by the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatchers and utilize the
latest Medical Priority Dispatching System. The Medical Priority Dispatching
System is a tool to determine Code responses for medical emergencies and
is also used to provide 911 callers with necessary Pre-Arrival Instructions
that can be performed prior to the arrival of the ambulance / rescue.
Our Dispatchers use this system whenever possible as it enhances patient care.
In
addition to dispatching our own vehicles, we have been
dispatching for the Sabattus Fire Department since 1998.
Sabattus Fire has been happy with our services
and is pleased to be part of our continued growth.
