Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)    Blended Learning Course - Lewiston    

Lewiston, Maine | January 11 – May 12, 2027

 

Course Overview

​

The United Training Center Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program is a fast-paced, blended-learning course designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as Emergency Medical Technicians.

​

The curriculum combines online education, classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, and practical skills development. Topics include ambulance operations, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, and the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency medical care.

​

Students who successfully complete all course requirements will be eligible to apply for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT Cognitive Examination.

 

Course Format and Commitment

​

Blended Learning: This program combines online, self-directed coursework with scheduled in-person classroom and laboratory sessions. Students are expected to complete assigned readings, online coursework, and other required activities before attending class. In-person sessions emphasize practical application, skills development, patient assessment, and scenario-based learning.

​

Weekly Time Commitment: Students should plan to dedicate approximately 14–16 hours per week outside of scheduled class time to reading, online coursework, assignments, studying, and required skills documentation.

​

Technology Requirement: Each student must have reliable access to a laptop or tablet and internet service. The device must be brought to each scheduled class.

​

Training Center Approval: United Training Center is a Maine EMS-approved Training Center.

​

College Credit: United Training Center does not directly award college credit for this program. College credit may be available through applicable articulation agreements. Please contact United Training Center for additional information.

 

Tuition and Fees

​

The total course tuition is $1,800.

​

Tuition includes access to:

  • Online course materials and learning platform

  • Online Skills Portfolio platform

  • Online testing platform

  • Required electronic textbook (e-text)

 

Payment

​

A $500 non-refundable course deposit is required to secure a student's seat in the program. The remaining $1,300 tuition balance must be paid in accordance with the payment terms provided by United Training Center.

​

Following acceptance and confirmation of enrollment, an invoice will be sent to the email address provided during registration.

A student's seat is not guaranteed until the required course deposit has been received.

 

Additional Costs

​

Course tuition does not include:

  • National Registry EMT examination fees

  • Maine EMS licensing fees

  • Any other applicable certification or licensing expenses

 

The required textbook is:​

Electronic access to the textbook is included with tuition. Students who prefer a physical copy are responsible for purchasing it separately.

 

Refund Policy

​

The $500 course deposit is non-refundable.

Tuition refunds may be issued if the course is canceled by United Training Center or when a student withdraws prior to the program's official start date, subject to United Training Center policies.

​

Registration and Enrollment Process

​

1. Register Online
Complete and submit the online registration form. Please submit only one registration. Multiple submissions will not increase the likelihood of acceptance.

​

2. Application Review
United Training Center will review submitted registrations. Applicants will be notified by email regarding their enrollment status.

Applicants may be:

  • Accepted – The applicant has been offered a seat in the program.

  • Waitlisted – The applicant has been placed on the program waiting list pending seat availability.

​

3. Confirm Enrollment
Accepted students must reply to their acceptance email to formally confirm their intention to enroll.

 

4. Submit Payment
After enrollment is confirmed, United Training Center will issue an invoice. The required $500 non-refundable deposit must be paid to secure the student's seat.

Clinical Experience

​

Clinical rotations are an optional component of this EMT program.

Students who elect to participate in clinical rotations must meet all applicable clinical-site requirements, including submission of required immunization documentation. Additional information regarding clinical opportunities and health documentation requirements will be provided during the program.

 

National Registry Eligibility

​

Students who successfully complete all United Training Center EMT course requirements will be eligible to apply for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT Cognitive Examination.

​

Successful completion of the National Registry examination and satisfaction of all applicable Maine EMS requirements are necessary for Maine EMT licensure.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Course Overview and Commitment

​

United Training Center is pleased to offer an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Blended Learning Course in Windham, Maine, beginning January 28, 2027.

​

This fast-paced, blended learning program prepares students for entry-level work as Emergency Medical Technicians in the prehospital emergency medical services environment. The curriculum includes Ambulance Operations, Airway Management, Patient Assessment, Medical Emergencies, Trauma Emergencies, and other essential EMS knowledge and skills.

The blended learning format combines independent online coursework with scheduled in-person practical skills sessions. Students should be prepared for a rigorous educational experience that requires significant time, dedication, and personal accountability.

Course Format and Expectations

​

Format: Blended learning, combining online instruction, independent study, and in-person practical skills training.

​

Time Commitment: Students should anticipate a minimum of 14–16 hours per week outside of scheduled classes for reading, online assignments, examinations, and skills documentation.

​

In-Person Instruction: Classroom sessions focus primarily on hands-on skills development, practical application, scenario-based learning, and competency assessments.

​

Technology Requirements: Students must have access to a laptop or tablet and are required to bring their device to every scheduled class.

​

Attendance:  Attendance is expected at all scheduled in-person classes, including the three required Saturday sessions.

​

Training Center Approval: United Training Center is a Maine EMS-approved Training Center.

Total Course Tuition: $1,800

Payment Schedule

1. Non-Refundable Course Deposit: $500

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your enrollment. Payment of the deposit is the only way to guarantee your place in the course following acceptance.

2. Remaining Tuition Balance: $1,300

The remaining tuition balance must be paid before the course begins.

​

3. Final Payment:

Course invoices will be emailed to the address provided during registration after applicants formally confirm their enrollment by replying to their acceptance email.

Required Textbook:

Students must submit the required $500 non-refundable deposit to secure their seat and pay the remaining tuition balance by the established deadline.

Additional Required Sessions:

Three Saturdays will be scheduled during the course for additional practical skills instruction, scenario-based training, and competency evaluations.

Attendance at all three Saturday sessions will be required.

Important Attendance Information:

 

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and complete all online coursework before the applicable deadlines. Because of the accelerated blended learning format, consistent participation and preparation are essential for successful course completion.

 

Clinical Rotations

Clinical rotations are an optional component of this EMT course.

Students who elect to participate in clinical rotations must submit documentation of all required immunizations and meet any additional clinical site requirements before participating.

Further information regarding clinical opportunities, immunization requirements, and scheduling will be provided during the course.

 

Course Completion and National Registry Eligibility

Students who successfully complete all required course components, demonstrate competency in the required knowledge and skills, and meet United Training Center and Maine EMS educational requirements will be eligible to pursue the National Registry EMT certification examination.

Successful completion of the course does not automatically grant National Registry certification or a Maine EMS license. Students must meet all applicable certification and state licensing requirements.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Course - Lewiston  

Lewiston, Maine | January 13 – May 19, 2027

Course Overview and Commitment

 

United Training Center offers a fast-paced, blended learning Advanced EMT program for currently licensed EMTs seeking to expand their patient care knowledge and skills and prepare for the National Registry AEMT cognitive examination. Online coursework complements instructor-led classroom education, with lectures typically held in the morning and hands-on laboratories and scenarios in the afternoon.

 

 

  • Students must hold a current EMT license before the course begins.

  • Expect at least 16–18 hours each week outside class for reading, assignments, online learning, and skills documentation.

  • Bring a laptop or tablet to every class; in-person attendance is expected at all scheduled sessions.

  • United Training Center is a Maine EMS-approved Training Center. College credit is not awarded directly, but may be available through articulation agreements.

 

Tuition and Fees

 

Total tuition is $2,800 and includes the online learning platform, electronic skills portfolio, online testing platform, and required eTextbook.

​

A $600 nonrefundable deposit is required to secure enrollment; the remaining tuition balance is $2,200. Deposit and balance due dates will be communicated with acceptance and invoicing instructions. An invoice will be sent after an accepted applicant confirms enrollment by replying to the acceptance email.

 

Additional expenses:

  • The NREMT cognitive examination fee is not included. Testing is scheduled separately through NREMT/Pearson VUE and is not offered on site.

  • The required text is provided online only. A printed copy, if desired, must be purchased separately.

Refunds:

The $600 deposit is nonrefundable. Any tuition refund before the official start date is subject to United Training Center’s applicable refund policy; tuition will be refunded if the course is canceled.

 

Application and Enrollment Process

  2. Applicants will be notified of acceptance or waitlist status by email; notification dates will be provided during registration.

  3. An interview may be required as part of final admission; applicants will be contacted if one is needed.

Additional laboratory or make-up sessions may be scheduled if needed. Students will receive advance notice of any changes.

Clinical Rotations

​

Clinical rotations run concurrently with the course. Students must submit required immunization and clinical clearance documentation before beginning rotations and complete a minimum of 150 clinical hours. Additional hours may be necessary to meet all required competencies and objectives. Up to 60 additional days following the last class are available to complete outstanding clinical experiences, subject to program policy.

Course Completions and Certification

​

Students must successfully complete academic, skills, and clinical requirements. The Fisdap Comprehensive Clearance Examination requires a minimum score of 73%, with up to three attempts permitted under program policy. Upon successful completion, eligible students may proceed through the NREMT examination authorization process. Certification and state licensure have separate requirements.

​Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to Paramedic Program

Course Overview and Commitment

 

This comprehensive blended-learning program is designed for licensed EMTs seeking Paramedic certification. The educational format combines online coursework, classroom instruction, laboratory sessions, and clinical experiences.

 

Format: Students must participate in both online and in-person learning activities. A laptop or tablet with reliable internet access is required and must be brought to every class.

 

Prerequisites: Applicants must hold a current EMT license. Before the program begins, applicants must also complete a college-level Anatomy and Physiology course with a grade of “C” or better. A laboratory component is not required. An official transcript documenting successful completion must be submitted as part of the application process.

 

Certain online Anatomy and Physiology courses may be accepted. Please contact United Training Center before enrolling in an online course to confirm that it meets program requirements.

 

Enrollment Requirements: Enrollment is limited, and admission is competitive. Applying simultaneously to multiple United Training Center Paramedic programs may place an applicant at a disadvantage during the selection process. Advanced placement is not available.

Application and Enrollment Process

 

  1. Complete the initial registration: Submit the initial program registration to indicate your interest.

  2. Pay the application fee: Pay the $250 nonrefundable application fee to receive the complete Application Packet.

  3. Submit the Application Packet: Submit the completed packet, official Anatomy and Physiology transcript, and all required supporting documents by the announced deadline.

  4. Participate in an interview: Applicants who submit complete Application Packets will be scheduled for an interview.

  5. Receive an admission decision: Applicants will be notified of one of the following decisions:

    • Accepted: The applicant has been offered a seat in the program.

    • Waitlisted: The applicant completed the interview process but has not currently been offered a seat.

  6. Confirm enrollment: Accepted applicants must pay the $1,500 nonrefundable program deposit by the specified deadline to secure their seats.

Course Schedule

 

The program is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2027, with a projected completion date of March 30, 2028.

 

Attendance is expected at all scheduled classroom, laboratory, and clinical sessions. Classes will generally meet on Thursdays, with occasional Friday sessions.

 

Clinical rotations will occur concurrently with the program. Students will have up to 60 days following the final day of class to complete any remaining clinical requirements.
