Course Overview and Commitment

 

This comprehensive blended-learning program is designed for licensed EMTs seeking Paramedic certification. The educational format combines online coursework, classroom instruction, laboratory sessions, and clinical experiences.

 

Format: Students must participate in both online and in-person learning activities. A laptop or tablet with reliable internet access is required and must be brought to every class.

 

Prerequisites: Applicants must hold a current EMT license. Before the program begins, applicants must also complete a college-level Anatomy and Physiology course with a grade of “C” or better. A laboratory component is not required. An official transcript documenting successful completion must be submitted as part of the application process.

 

Certain online Anatomy and Physiology courses may be accepted. Please contact United Training Center before enrolling in an online course to confirm that it meets program requirements.

 

Enrollment Requirements: Enrollment is limited, and admission is competitive. Applying simultaneously to multiple United Training Center Paramedic programs may place an applicant at a disadvantage during the selection process. Advanced placement is not available.

Accreditation

 

The Paramedic Program at United Training Center is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Tuition and Fees

 

The total program cost is $15,350.00 including tuition and required fees.

 

The program cost includes:

• Two student polo shirts

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

• Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification

• Maine EMS Paramedic Inter-Facility Transport  (PIFT) certification

Payment Schedule

 

Nonrefundable application fee: $250 — due date to be announced

Nonrefundable program deposit: $1,500 — due date to be announced

Remaining tuition balance: $13,600 — due date to be announced

 

The application fee and program deposit are nonrefundable.

 

Additional Costs

 

The program cost does not include:

• National Registry Paramedic cognitive examination fee

• Maine EMS licensing fees

• Optional printed textbook

 

The required textbook is Sanders’ Paramedic Textbook, Sixth Edition (ISBN: 9781284277531). The electronic version is included in the program cost. Students who prefer a printed copy must purchase it separately.

 

Application and Enrollment Process

 

1. Complete the initial registration: Submit the initial program registration to indicate your interest.

2. Pay the application fee: Pay the $250 nonrefundable application fee to receive the complete Application Packet.

3. Submit the Application Packet: Submit the completed packet, official Anatomy and Physiology transcript, and all required supporting documents by the announced deadline.

4. Participate in an interview: Applicants who submit complete Application Packets will be scheduled for an interview.

5. Receive an admission decision: Applicants will be notified of one of the following decisions:

   • Accepted: The applicant has been offered a seat in the program.

   • Waitlisted: The applicant completed the interview process but has not currently been offered a seat.

6. Confirm enrollment: Accepted applicants must pay the $1,500 nonrefundable program deposit by the specified deadline to secure their seats.

Course Schedule

 

The program is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2027, with a projected completion date of March 30, 2028.

 

Attendance is expected at all scheduled classroom, laboratory, and clinical sessions. Classes will generally meet on Thursdays, with occasional Friday sessions.

 

Clinical rotations will occur concurrently with the program. Students will have up to 60 days following the final day of class to complete any remaining clinical requirements.
